About AMVETS...
AMVETS (American Veterans) offers one
of the most liberal
membership criteria of any national veterans service organization.
Anyone who has served honorably in the Armed Forces of the United
States from
World War II to the present - including those on active duty, in the
National
Guard, Reserves or wartime Merchant Marine - is eligible to join. There
is no limitation on when your service occurred (war-time period or
not),
what service you were in, what grade you held or how long you served.
The assistance that AMVETS offers to veterans is free of charge, and a
veteran
doesn't have to be an AMVETS member to receive it.
AMVETS members serve active duty armed forces personnel, their fellow
veterans
and their communities through a variety of programs. AMVETS also keeps
a
watchful eye on all Capitol Hill legislation and aggressively comments
on every
bill that is likely to affect veterans and active duty and reserve
personnel in
the armed forces.
